    CSR Committee of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum Discusses Social Responsibility Concept in Jordan

    AMMAN – In its first meeting, Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAGKF) affirmed the importance of activating the concept of CSR as well as setting up the required mechanisms for enhancing its role in Jordan.

    Members of the Committee, chaired by Dr. Amjad Shamout, Goodwill Ambassador and chairman of the Arab League’s Permanent Committee on Human Rights, stressed the significance of media, family, civil society institutions as well as educational entities in promoting societies’ awareness of the need for enhancing CSR mission.

    They agreed that their recommendations should be practical, and also agreed to establish a national fund to be governed by defined criteria and regulations to accept donations and support from corporations and companies and to create a Code of Ethics and Conduct for Social Responsibility.

    Referring to His Majesty’s Discussion Papers, the Committee expressed the need for financial institutions and big corporations in Jordan to contribute to the effort and to shoulder their responsibilities towards the country.
    They also proposed the enactment of legislations in support of the CSR concept, noting that most social activities are centered in Amman, while, CSR scope should include all parts of the Kingdom.
