Abu-Ghazaleh Calls for Establishing an Entity of Dedicated Mothers to Improve Education for Jordanian Children

AMMAN -------- September 17, 2015 --------- HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh called for establishing a group of mothers aimed at improving education quality in the Kingdom since education starts by mothers then it moves to schools.

During the Business and Professional Women Forum organized by the Business and Professional Women Association, Amman, headed by the Member of the Upper House of the Jordanian Parliament HE Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar and in the presence of a number of ladies and female representatives of public and private sectors and civil society, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of the mother's role especially in the field of education improvement and enhancement.

“There must be a group of mothers dedicated to changes in education in Jordan. The mother is the first teacher in the age of knowledge. The student enters the first grade having some learning skills as reading and writing. These mothers aim to change education for all citizens,” he said.

He also pointed out that “The meeting aims to talk about future education for children and its role in establishing the knowledge economy as it is the basis of wealth-making.” He also noted that “The United Nations has been conducting its studies on the percent of the digital and non digital citizens since illiteracy is measured by IT knowledge”.

With regards to the educational programs in the public schools, His Excellency stated: “These programs are no longer convenient for children in light of the development and change in the fields of education” pointing out to the education in the developed counties where the teacher’s role is only to help and direct while the students teach each other and share their knowledge.

He also pointed out to the statements of the Minister of Education that confirm that there is a problem in education that needs ten years to be solved, indicating that, among the wrong policies, 60% of the government budget is spent on the state while only 40 % is spent on education process.

He also highlighted successful experiences in Jordan such as the Jubilee School where students, through an annual exhibit, submit a number of wonderful inventions that would be a source of wealth if linked to investors. “Work in cooperation with the Higher Council for Science and Technology is under way to allocate a day of every year to hold an exhibit where inventors present their inventions to investors."

For her part, Dr. Al-Najjar thanked Dr Abu-Ghazaleh for hosting the Association stating that the perfect usage of leaders making is by IT.

She also stated “The Association always marks the successful personal life of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh as a role model in its different meetings as success includes all fields especially in business and community service.

Participants of the meeting confirmed that it is important for the Ministry of Education to play the role of the mother as well as taking the IT role into account especially with regard to conciliation between public and private schools.  They also pointed out to that the gap between public and private schools increases and it is everyone's responsibility to bridge this gap.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh presented Dr. Al Najjar with an Honorary Shield
